Hello and welcome, readers! We have L.A.
McGinnis here with us today. L.A, thanks for visiting us.

How long have you been a
writer and how did you come to writing?

I’ve been writing since 2007, but

Which is a good thing because the next book is already out. This series has such great humor, along with the most interesting world building I’ve ever read (except maybe Dune). This series comes highly recommended- I gobbled them up.   Razing Hell  Cate Corvin I’m brand-new to RH (I know…) and loved this book. I guess I’m really drawn to the supernatural, and this angels/demons good vs. evil storyline just sucked me right in. Great writing paired with perfect worldbuilding makes for a book I couldn’t put down until I was done. Then I immediately one-clicked the rest of the series. Here’s a short excerpt to warm you up: “We should get moving.” Cole told her. “I’m on a deadline.” “You could do that,” Alexis murmured, tracing the scales on the bottom of his neck, her featherlight touch causing a deep rumble in his throat. “Or you we can find a comfortable place and you could shift.” “There are no creature comforts here, Lex. And I haven’t exactly had time to redecorate since the last occupant.” “Yeah, no shit.” She said, glancing over to the dragon’s head, still in a puddle of congealed blood in the middle of the floor. She scratched a bit higher, bringing out another purring growl. “And I suppose there’s no horizontal surfaces, either?” “Lex…” He drew her name out as her tickling fingers reached the underside of his jaw. “Yes. Okay. Yes, there’s vertical surfaces, and fuck… Yes, I’ll shift for you.” “Show me where.” She eased away from him and climbed to her feet, brushing off red dust. Her face was pink, her hair was a wild mess around her head and those blue eyes sparkled with desire. Right then and there, Cole swore he’d turn this aerie into the loveliest penthouse Lexi had ever seen. He’d make it a sanctuary, just for the two of them. He’d even get rid of the head. Maybe. Something very primal made him want to mount it to the wall, but it probably wouldn’t work with the décor. She usually leaned toward bright colors. Cole rolled onto his feet and headed further back in the cave, Lexi on his heels. He hadn’t ventured back this far into the aerie before, and was surprised to find a round chamber, torches hanging from the walls. With a breath, he ignited them, and the red stone walls glowed as Lexi explored the enormous room. She approached an alcove—a huge one—carved into the far wall, an intricately framed half-arch with a roaring dragon at the apex. The detail work surrounding the opening was almost delicate, the stone sanded smooth where you would climb on and off the deep shelf. “Is this a bed, do you think?” she asked, eyeing the nearly life-sized dragon at the top. “I guess…” She looked him over then seemed to reevaluate the dark opening. “You’d need something this big, considering your bulk.” “Are you calling me fat?” “Sheesh, so touchy.” Alexis laughed. “Little did I know I feel in love with a big baby.” She shot him a little smirk. “You’re not big…you’re fluffy.” Cole blinked in surprise, then nudged her toward the wide shelf, shifting as he did. As the cold pricked his skin, he realized his mortal form was more vulnerable than he remembered, but the perfect size and design to make love to Alexis. “You just used the L-word,” he murmured, crowding her toward the wall. “I never thought I’d see the day. Alexis Hawthorne. In love with a boy.” “And not just any boy.” She sighed as Cole pressed her into the wall with the full length of his body. “A dragon. A really, really”—she reached down and grasped him, running her hand up and down his length—“big dragon.” Available on Amazon and in KU

Demoncursed releases onto the world today, and I couldn’t be prouder of my newest book baby.  If you like dragons, you’ll love Cole West, and when he meets alexis, the sparks fly!

Here’s a short excerpt to warm you up:

“We should get moving.” Cole told her. “I’m on a deadline.”

“You could do that,” Alexis murmured, tracing the scales on the bottom of his neck, her featherlight touch causing a deep rumble in his throat. “Or you we can find a comfortable place and you could shift.”

“Show me where.” She eased away from him and climbed to her feet, brushing off red dust. Her face was pink, her hair was a wild mess around her head and those blue eyes sparkled with desire.

With her eyes squeezed tight, the glide of Kieran’s fingers working against her scalp was heavenly, especially when he added more shampoo. The smell mixed with the steam as he massaged it through her hair. Part of her was relaxing into Kieran’s unhurried touch, while a whole other part was wondering what in the hell she was doing. She realized hadn’t taken any of her meds in…two days now. Usually they settled her, calmed her down. But they didn’t hold a candle to how she felt right now. And that was before Kieran’s teeth nipped her shoulder, followed by the press of soft lips to ease the burn. When he bit her again, she slapped a hand to the tile, stifling a cry. His lips sliding up her neck, the feel of water dripping down her body, his hands wound in her hair, all combining to tip her over the edge. And he’d hardly even touched her yet. Brand New Series Debut! https://lamcginnis.com/2020/08/series-debut-l-a-mcginnis-seacursed/ https://lamcginnis.com/2020/08/series-debut-l-a-mcginnis-seacursed/#respond Mon, 17 Aug 2020 02:46:27 +0000 https://lamcginnis.com/?p=1469 Today is the debut of my brand new series- the Mage Circle Trilogy.  Back before the corona-virus’s debut, I’d envisioned this set of books as an easy, fun beach read, since each can be read easily in an afternoon.  Then reality hit and even though the sun is out, the beaches are empty- but I hope you can still find somewhere quiet to curl up and enjoy this newest book! Here’s an excerpt from Seacursed: Victoria woke to the stench of burning flesh, the acrid smell burning her sensitive nasal passages. “I thought a Tracker would have a stronger constitution.” Devlin Bloodbane’s casual, greasy voice cut through her misery. “But I suppose we can’t have everything in life. Stand up, Victoria. Lovely name—Victoria—very English. It reminds me of tea parties and carriage rides.” Swaying, Victoria rose, not quite daring to meet his gaze. Devlin the Devourer. Devlin, the monster who lurked in the shadows. Devlin, who dragged his captives to the dungeons, where they were never seen again. And she was trapped in a room with him. The only one left alive, besides him. Except for Lucas, of course, who had somehow managed to burn everyone else to a crisp, then escape. “Worton bought you, correct?” His gaze slipped down to the iron bands around her wrists. She managed the slightest nod. “Lucky man. I’ll assume he never took full advantage of his privilege, did he? Desiccated old fool. Well, my darling Victoria, your life has just changed drastically.” Now she did look in his eyes, if only because she was so horrified that she couldn’t help herself. “You have a new master now, so get yourself cleaned up, come down to the catacombs and allow me to explain how things will be.” He turned away and left her, alone with the steaming, burned corpses, alone in the room where everything had gone so wrong. Victoria glared at Worton’s black, smoking body on her way out. And decided even such a horrible death wasn’t gruesome enough for him. As always, hit me up if you have any questions or comments- I’m always around on Facebook or Instagram! -L.A.

Today is the debut of my brand new series- the Mage Circle Trilogy.

Here’s an excerpt from Seacursed:

Victoria woke to the stench of burning flesh, the acrid smell burning her sensitive nasal passages.

“I thought a Tracker would have a stronger constitution.” Devlin Bloodbane’s casual, greasy voice cut through her misery. “But I suppose we can’t have everything in life. Stand up, Victoria. Lovely name—Victoria—very English. It reminds me of tea parties and carriage rides.”

Swaying, Victoria rose, not quite daring to meet his gaze.

“You have a new master now, so get yourself cleaned up, come down to the catacombs and allow me to explain how things will be.”

He turned away and left her, alone with the steaming, burned corpses, alone in the room where everything had gone so wrong. Victoria glared at Worton’s black, smoking body on her way out.

And decided even such a horrible death wasn’t gruesome enough for him.

As always, hit me up if you have any questions or comments- I’m always around on Facebook or Instagram! -L.A.

The World Release Day!!!!! https://lamcginnis.com/2020/06/the-world-release-day/ https://lamcginnis.com/2020/06/the-world-release-day/#respond Tue, 30 Jun 2020 20:07:16 +0000 https://lamcginnis.com/?p=1420 The end of The Banished Gods Series has arrived!  I had so much fun writing Ava and Odin’s love story- and today is the day The World finally releases!  This entire series has been a 5 year labor of love, and I can’t wait for you to read the final book in this now-complete series!  Here is a short excerpt: More than anything, Ava wanted to touch Odin. She wanted to run her hands over him, make sure he was real. Make sure he was hers. Lowering her bad foot, she steadied herself against the Hummer. “I’ve missed you,” she finally said and swore she saw relief in his silvery eyes. “Every day, trapped inside my head, I thought of you. And then one day, you came for me.” Her voice was full of wonder, even now, at the memory. And still, he just waited. “Was any of what you said true?” she finally asked, heart thumping. “Or was it only to help me break free?” She hurried on, scared to hear his answer. “Because if it was only to help, that’s okay, too. I totally get it, we’ve been enemies for a long time, and…” Somehow, he’d moved to her, and now she was staring down at the front of that awful, bloody shirt. With a finger, he tipped her face up to his. “Everything,” he told her in a rough whisper. “Every single word I said that night was true.” She sobbed out a breath, then sniffed. “I’ve loved you for so long, I don’t think I even know when it started,” he told her softly, his thumb now caressing her cheek in languid circles. “Only that you’ve ruled my thoughts…” He kissed her forehead. “For so long now, I can’t even imagine you not being in them.” His lips traveled down to her cheek, lingered there for a long moment while she waited in anticipation. “All this time…every moment you’ve been gone, has killed me inside.” She closed her eyes, savoring his warm breath on her lips. “And now that you’ve come back to me, all I can think of is what you taste like.” Finally, Odin claimed her lips, his kiss sweetly chaste. “Perfection,” was all he said as he drew back, his silver eyes glowing. Finalist in The Paranormal Romance Guild’s 2020 Reviewer’s Choice Awards for best urban fantasy series-this is the final installment of the Banished Gods series, and this full-length book features an immortal king, a dark queen, and a stunning conclusion to this epic love story! June News! https://lamcginnis.com/2020/06/june-news/ https://lamcginnis.com/2020/06/june-news/#respond Fri, 05 Jun 2020 17:34:51 +0000 https://lamcginnis.com/?p=1414 I was super excited to see these two wonderful reviews from Uncaged Book Reviews for The Priestess and Deaths Daughter!!  While I work to finish the last book in the series, it’s always wonderful to see people are enjoying the story!! Here is the review for The Priestess (book 3) “The main arc is ramping up, and even though the title of this book gives away a spoiler on it’s own, just like Return of the King title gave away a part of the Lord of the Rings. But it’s a wild ride, and the action and tension is ramping with each book. There are some good revelations in this book, and a lot of answers – but there are always more questions, but the author keeps baiting the readers and giving us enough to stay afloat. The chemistry between Mir and Syd is spot on, and the god is going to have his hands full with this one. The plot thickens, and I went straight to book four.” Reviewed by Cyrene And Death’s Daughter (BOOK 4) “If you are an urban fantasy fan, or a romance fan, you will enjoy this series with the Norse gods fighting the evil. The edge-of-your-seat action and the all or nothing love between these warriors will win you over. I don’t recommend reading out of order because of the main story arc and the recurring characters.” Reviewed by Cyrene A huge shout out to Cyrene for taking the time to read and review!!
